The JFC Peace Monitor is delighted to announce confirmation of the first of three delegations to Colombia during 2018.

The delegation will take place between 4 and 10 April and will be looking to give support to the different actors involved in ensuring the peace process continues on a positive path, with a particular focus on trade union and human rights issues.

The visit comes at a crucial time in between Colombia’s Congressional elections  and the upcoming Presidential elections to be held later this year, and as reports continue to surface of horrifying attacks against social and political activists.

As well as meeting with those directly involved in overseeing the implementation of the peace deal, the delegation will meet with newly elected members of Congress, trade union and human rights organsiations, and will travel to rural villages to meet with demobilised guerrillas, workers, and local community activists.

This first delegation will include Members of the British Parliament and the House of Lords as well as representatives of the International Trade Union Confederation, and both the British and Irish trade union movements.
